Doc9-fantastic, fantastic
Finished! Yay! First draft anyway. Sent off to betas. Wordcount is 15500 words or so. Whee!
(Look, it's Australia Day tomorrow, I can sleep in. If I don't wake up at five, at least)

Stayed up until midnight working on the last scene, still didn't get it finished (sigh).
Wordcount: 14333

Still, with [info]aizain's help, what I have is much tighter and smoother than what I had at the start of the day. Yay! This is the last scene, after all, the climax, it has to have impact. The pigs must fly smooth and straight. The last pig hasn't launched into the air yet, though. But it will.

Well, I did get quite a huge amount done on the weekend, though not quite as much as I'd hoped.
Wordcount: 13389

Now I have the very last scene to completely rewrite (I'd done a version of it at the start, to know what I was working towards). This is the point at which the pigs are flapping their wings, gently dancing in the breeze, gambolling in the air and turning somersaults above the reader's head. If I can pull it off. "You, too, will believe that a pig can fly!"

And then this hastily written rubbish will go to the betas.

Yahoo! No, I'm not anywhere near finished, but thanks to [info]aizain we figured out a very cool confrontation scene; I'd written myself into a corner, and he helped me write myself out again. Another hurdle crossed. Yay!

Next scene to be written: driving across the desert for fun. Yes, this does make sense in the context of the story. 8-)

Crossed another hurdle, my pigs are flapping a little, but they haven't yet gotten off the ground.
End of last scene:
They are not proper. They do not obey. They are free.

I shall let it settle a little and let my subconcious figure out which hurdle I should tackle next.

Last sentence: "Of course, the town wasn't actually called Nowheresville, but it might as well have been."

And since I don't know anything about small towns in the USA, I have had to pause there, especially since I'm not sure whether I want to say anything about the small town at all, because it would be a distraction from the main drama at this point... It's just my darned logical brain, figuring that this bit of the drama actually has to take place somewhere...

Well, I've gotten over another hurdle, anyway, in getting this far. It's just that this story is like running, well, lots of hurdles! (deep breath) Oh well.

I don't know how long I can put off watching The Christmas Invasion...

Finish-a-thon progress: about 7000 words in the story so far... and now I've just got up to the hard part. I'm probably half way through. I never thought this was going to be short, but I didn't think it was going to be quite this long. C'est la vie. I'm glad to have gotten this far already, got some good stuff done today. Tomorrow will not be productive, as there is going to be peoples coming over to Who-fest on DVDs. Which will be fun.
24th-Aug-2005 07:02 pm - Welsh questions
Avon-INTJ
I know this is extremely unlikely to be answered, but it can't hurt to ask, can it? I need some Welsh-related questions answered for my AU Doctor Who story...

First, what would be a good alternative name to give the reactor project in the Doctor Who episode "Boom Town"? It was originally called "Bad Wolf" in Welsh. I don't know any Welsh, but I'd like a different Welsh name to give it. (Yes, this is my Bad-Wolf-less AU)

Second question, also Welsh-related: is there Welsh-only TV in Wales? And if so, what kind of things are shown on it?
