i-did-it, Hiro
Eeee! I have done both my [info]remixthedrabble assignments!

I kept on putting off working on them, because the main one, I had to rewatch an episode first, and, well, stuff kept on happening. But I was determined that I was going to do it today, and even though I'd intended to do so this morning, well, I was asleep, wasn't I? But I bit the bullet and watched the episode, and started writing, and finished the first one about 7:30pm.

Then I thought I'd just look at the second (optional) assignment, to see if there were any stories which leapt out at me to remix. There were two promising ones, and one of them, well, I liked it a lot, and then I got a first line, which gave me a direction to head in, and here I am, I've now finished and sent off my second drabble. Yay!

Which is all just as well, since [info]hlh_shortcuts assignments will be going out soonish. And I should probably do an icon or three for [info - community] icon_style. But not tonight.

1st-Oct-2009 10:02 pm - Dipping into Another Ficathon
Methos-Joe, GenPride3
I have signed up for Highlander Holiday Short-Cuts ([info]hlh_shortcuts) ficathon! I've been looking forward to this since I decided I was too busy to do it last year. My "dear ficathoner" entry is here.

13th-Sep-2009 11:56 pm - Remixing
Plot Tribbles only one
Okay, I've signed up for [info]remixthedrabble as both a remixee and a remixer. This is the first time I've signed up as a remixer; I'm hoping it won't be too hard. Part of my motivation is that it's supposed to be short, another is that I just realized that, while I've been working on various stories this year, I haven't actually finished anything since the drabbles I did for [info]tthdrabbles in March. Rather than feeling guilty about that, I thought it would be nice to do a little ficathon as a sort of inspiration-break. Plus, a remix doesn't require plotting, since the plot is there already. Plus, having to enforce a maximum length is an interesting discipline.

Another thing I did today was put up a number of stories on my page on fanfiction.net; I decided I might as well put all my stories up there anyway, to make them easier to find. I may find I run out of energy before I manage it, but at least I made a start.

SF
[info]bujold_fic is having their annual fic-fest; they are now accepting prompt submissions, in case any y'all are interested.
3rd-Jul-2009 11:35 am - Psss, wanna ficathon?
Plot Tribbles only one
[info]matrithon, "a ficathon to celebrate women the age of 40 and over." Any and all fandoms are welcome. It's one of those "free prompt" ficathons rather than an exchange ficathon. I've been having fun submitting prompts.

Avon-Cally
I finished my [info]multiverse5000 story, Still Breathing Hope (Blake's 7/ST:TNG). Which is rather amazing since I thought I wasn't going to be able to do a story at all. But I wrote this story over the past two (or was it three?) days, as my muse had seized me with a completely different story idea than what I had originally intended. It hasn't been betaed (it was due today, so no time) but that doesn't mean I wouldn't appreciate help to polish it when I put it up on my fiction site.

impress-me, Soolin-impress-me
All of the [info]remixthedrabble stories are now up, and the remix that was done of one of my stories was Passing Fair (The Blood and Stone Remix) - and it's beautiful. It condenses the story into a poem.

art
I just had an idea! I was thinking about [info]tardis_bigbang, and how nifty it is that they get artists to participate as well as writers. And how it was a pity that I would never likely write a BigBang story, and thus not get illustrations for it. And it occurred to me... would it be possible to organize a ficathon-like thing, but for artists to illustrate pre-existing stories? Would it work? Would anyone want to participate? How could it be organized?

So, what do you think? Got any brilliant ideas to make it work?
18th-Apr-2009 06:07 pm - Multiverse rides again
CallyDoc, time-crossed
Multiverse is running again this year! Unexpectedly. Because [info]andrastewhite has some unexpected free time. However, it is more laid-back than other years; it is going to be along the lines of free-for-all prompts, with authors then claiming prompts to write.

So go and add some prompts!

In the meantime, my finish-a-thon story is... going nowhere. I should go back and finish watching "Frontier in Space".
