18th-Oct-2009 08:42 pm - Works That I Wish Would Progress
tardis, tardis-any-place
I try to avoid reading works-in-progress, because it's so frustrating waiting until they are finished. But in spite of that, I have been sucked in to reading them every now and then, and I keep on accumulating them. So I thought I'd share my frustration (and who, knows, encourage some authors) by giving my current list of works-in-progress that I have started reading and wish the author would update and finish soon.
mostly Harry Potter and Doctor Who )

anti-hero, Snape-anti-hero
Fan writers are inventive. One of the things they invent is mocking names for Lord Voldemort.
My two favourites are:
* Lord Moldywort
* Lord Vol-eu-vent

Also, I discovered at my brother's birthday dinner last night that my nieflings are in the "Snape is an evil git" school, and that they strongly dislike the actor who played Harry Potter. Oh well, I guess it takes all sorts.

I have been reading Pet Project, which I have been enjoying greatly, but alas it is a work-in-progress, and I have no idea when it will be finished, considering that the author keeps on being delayed. Foolishness on my part, probably, to have started reading it when I knew it wasn't finished, but so many people had it listed as a favourite story, and the premise sounded intriguing, so I caved. And as I said, I have enjoyed it; Snape is snarky and cunning and walking on a razor's edge, Hermione is brave and thoughtful and foolish, there's nifty extrapolation about the HP world, particularly in regards to House Elves and Arithmancy. I wish she would hurry up and finish it!

1st-Aug-2009 01:49 pm - Harry Potter fic recs
anti-hero, Snape-anti-hero
[info - personal] settiai was just asking for Harry Potter fic recs, particularly for AU epics which were written before the series ended. Most of these recs are Snape-centric, which I expect surprises nobody. 8-)
heeeere's the recs )
Edited To Add: And if anyone has any HP fic recs of their own, PLEASE comment with them. As you might have noticed, I'm very fond of gen Harry-Snape reconciliation fics, but I'm also in the mood for good epics which refrain from character-bashing, are Snape-positive (even if not Snape-centric). It would be nice to see ones which feature Luna or Neville in strong roles too.

Crossover lovers, pop over to [info]multiverse5000 and read the stories there. [info]andrastewhite decided to waive author anonymity due to the delays, and just post the stories she had, there on the community. There will be a proper website later.

Alas, it looks like I'm one of the people who missed out; there is no story written for me. 8-(

Edited to add:
My story is "Things That Never Were" (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy/Doctor Who)
in the comm or on my website
