I wrote this in the bus this morning.

Twisted Tale
Words: 100
Universe: Doctor Who
Spoilers: post-"Parting of the Ways", also "The Curse of Fatal Death".

Rose didn't know what to make of the dream. Daleks screamed "Ex-ter-min-ate!" and the Doctor regenerated over and over again; no surprises there. But it was more like a pantomime than a nightmare. An alien race that communicated by farting? The Sofa Of Reasonable Comfort? The Doctor getting engaged; wishful thinking perhaps? Then the Doctor regenerated into a woman and went off with her longtime enemy. That was the strangest part.

What did it mean? Who was the Master anyway? A symbol, or someone real? Another Time Lord, a fellow survivor?

Maybe the TARDIS was trying to tell her something.

Don't ask me what part of my subconcious this crawled out of.

ETA: Okay, ask me. I don't know. Just say something!

Maybe the TARDIS has been reading THHGTTG.

Ah. Okay, I've obviously underestimated how obscure "The Curse of Fatal Death" is. This was a "Comedy Relief" Doctor Who special, and I based the dream on that, as a sort of way to make it "canon". Yes, all of the above things did happen in that special, and other strange things besides. Though I think my favourite was the running joke "I'll explain later".
